Thank you for choosing MySmartExpense. This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is handled when you use our mobile application.
Our core philosophy is privacy-first. Your financial data is your own.
## 1. Data We Do Not Collect
We do not require you to create an account. We do not collect or store any of your personal financial data on our servers.
- All your income entries, expense entries, categories, and notes are stored only on your device in a local database.
- We cannot see, access, or share this data. It never leaves your phone unless you manually use the “Backup” feature.
## 2. Data We Do Collect
To support and improve the app, we collect a minimal amount of data.
A. App Functionality Data (Stored Locally)
To make the app work, we save your preferences. This data is also stored only on your device and is never sent to us:
- App Settings: Your preferences for Dark Mode, Language (English/Arabic), and your chosen Currency Symbol (e.g., “$”).
- Security Settings: Your choice to enable or disable the App Lock feature.
B. Advertising Identifiers (Collected by Third Parties)
Our app is supported by ads, which are provided by Google AdMob. To show you relevant ads, AdMob may collect and use:
- Device Identifiers: Such as your Advertising ID.
- General Location Data: Such as your country or city.
- App Usage Data: How you interact with ads within the app.

## 3. Biometric & PIN Data (App Lock)
You have the option to secure your app using your device’s App Lock feature (Fingerprint or PIN).
To be perfectly clear: We never access, see, or store your fingerprint, PIN, or password.
When you enable this feature, our app simply asks the Android operating system, “Please ask the user to authenticate.” The Android system handles the entire process securely. Your biometric data never leaves the secure hardware on your device.
## 4. Backup & Restore
Our app provides a “Backup Data” feature. This feature allows you to create a local copy of your database file and save it to a location you choose on your device (e.g., your “Downloads” folder).
This process is entirely under your control. The backup file is not encrypted by our app and is only as secure as the location you save it to. The “Restore Data” feature simply copies this file back into the app’s private folder. At no point is this data sent to us.
## 5. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Because your financial data is stored locally, you have full control over it.
- Right to Access, Edit, and Delete: You can access, edit, and delete all your financial data at any time from within the app.
- Right to Data Portability: You can use the “Backup Data” feature to create a copy of your data for your own use.
- Opting-Out of Ads: You can opt-out of personalized advertising by going to your device’s main Settings > Google > Ads > Delete advertising ID.
## 6. Children’s Privacy
Our app is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
